The Volunteers and Friends of Holmes Chapel Railway Station and Viaduct are delighted to have recently installed two self-watering planters manufactured by Amberol, of Alfreton, Derbyshire, outside the booking office. Amberol is a family owned firm and has been making quality moulded products and self-watering planters since 1969. Some of the manufacturing process can be seen here: https://amberol.co.uk/about
You can view a before picture at the bottom left of this page showing the old sleeper beds which badly needed replacing due to rotting woodwork. Previously they had given a long service life of some 15 years.
We are very grateful to the Crewe to Manchester Community Rail Partnership and Anwyl Homes (who are currently building the Victoria Mills housing development in Holmes Chapel) for funding the project and also to Morreys of Holmes Chapel, hedgehog rescue of Staffordshire and CAD Correction and Detail Premium Car Care Specialists (our neighbours in Station Yard). The Volunteers also grow plants in their own greenhouse and nurse others that need care.

The Volunteers and Friends work closely with Northern Trains Limited to, inter alia, promote and carry out environmental works for the benefit of the residents of Holmes Chapel and rail passengers visiting here from all over the World. We want to make the Station a pleasant place to visit and use – an attractive gateway to the Village!
