On Sunday 12 December the rail industry will introduce the Winter timetable, which will remain in place until May 2022.
Under that timetable change, TransPennine Express will be taking a further step towards reintroducing pre-COVID services in response to customer demand, which, with some services reintroduced, will see an increase in seating capacity with improved frequency and connectivity. The Winter timetable will see us operate 85% of our pre-COVID level of service and the key changes in the timetable are:
- Edinburgh – Newcastle:
- With the agreement of Transport Scotland and the Rail North Partnership, we will increase services to five services per day (four on Sundays)
- Trains will call at Morpeth, Alnmouth, Berwick and Dunbar. One call per day will be made at Cramlington and calls will be at Reston once that station opens
- Manchester Airport – Edinburgh Waverley/Glasgow Central:
- The Manchester Airport to Glasgow Central service is reinstated to its pre-COVID frequency of every two hours
- The 20:07 from Manchester will run as far as Oxenholme, and the 2107 as far as Lancaster
- A Nova 1 train will be utilised for the following services Monday to Saturdays:
- 06.12 Edinburgh – Manchester Airport
- 10.10 Manchester Airport – Edinburgh
- 14.12 Edinburgh – Manchester Airport
- 18.10 Manchester Airport – Edinburgh
- All other services will be operated by Nova 2 trains
- Scarborough – York – Manchester Victoria – Liverpool Lime Street:
- This service is reinstated hourly through to Manchester Victoria, with some peak services extended to Liverpool
