FOSS are people living in the vicinity of Styal with a desire to see a viable future for Styal railway station. The Styal Village Association has plans for a new mural for the station which they hope to complete in 2023.
The local rail operator, Northern Rail has recently improved the rail service to Styal making travel by train a good choice to reach the attractions in the area.
Styal station is located just off the B5166 between Wilmslow and Heald Green. It’s on Station Road – 50 metres from the war memorial. The station is between Manchester Airport and Wilmslow on the Manchester to Crewe line.
Styal is home to the National Trust run Quarry Bank Mill and Styal Estate, which is well worth a days visit. There is always a lot going on with the National Trust with special events throughout the year.

Also close to Styal Station is HMP Styal, one of the largest female prisons in the UK with over 450 inmates. A recent addition to the Prison Facility is a restaurant, called ‘The Clink‘, it is a fully equipped restaurant turning out high quality food, while giving offenders a chance to learn new skills and access to employment opportunities.
Opened in 1962, it occupies some of the “Styal Cottages” accommodation and plus purpose built buildings just off Styal Road between the village centre and Worms Hill.
Manchester Airport and TfGM have published an easy 8 mile Orbital Cycle Route Map which can be accessed from Manchester Airport, Styal and Heald Green Stations.
